Attorneys Elizabeth Martineau and Tyler Williams of Martineau King PLLC in Charlotte recently achieved a complete defense verdict in an alleged rear-end collision case tried before a jury in York County, South Carolina. The Plaintiff claimed he was rear-ended by the defendant, who was driving a large commercial truck, while the Plaintiff was sitting at a stop-light. Elizabeth and Tyler contended for the defense that the Plaintiff had actually backed into the defendant. Key to the case was Elizabeth’s cross-examination of the plaintiff where he admitted that he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day. The case was with the jury for about an hour and a half until they came back in and announced their finding that the defendant was not liable. Tyler and Elizabeth are grateful for associate Natasha Durkee and paralegal Mary Young who provided substantial assistance with trial preparations.
